Went shopping to Divisoria last saturday. We went into this wholesale shop called Tutu Bee. They sell cheap and cute hair accessories, kitchen utensils, school supplies, bathroom and garden supplies and this something called Growing Grasshead.
I was so curious when I saw the stack of small boxes with pictures of cute stuffed animals with grass hairs in one of the shelves. I was so amazed that I had to ask one of the salesladies if those cute little thing will really grow grass on their heads, and she said that definitely grasses will grow as hairs.
It was my first time seeing something like it so I bought one for only Php30.00. I decided to give it a name, and since I bought it from a shop named Tutu Bee, I named it Mr. Tutu Bee, my cute dog-shaped grasshead. And since it already has a name, I should also use "he" and not "it". :))
The dog-shaped grasshead is made of what look like sawdust packed in a stockings and tied into places so that it will look like a dog (they can also be rabbits, potato, cats, etc). There are Grass seeds on it's head which will serve as its hair when they grow.
Just as written in the instruction, I put Mr. Tutu Bee into a container full of water. And when enough water was absorbed and he started sinking, I put him into a smaller container with a small amount of water to maintain the moisture.
During the first day, and since it was saturday, I had all the time to peek at him every hour. Everytime I passed by him, I had to look at him and see if there's some development. I was really really excited. Dad even told me that the seeds will not sprout if I on keep looking at them, they'll be scared.:)
The following morning, just when some of the seeds started to sprout roots, I was shocked when i saw Mr. Tutu Bee's ear and part of his face torn, and some of the grass seeds from his head floating on the water. Some ill-mannered rat tried to eat him! Fortunately, the rat just tasted him and decided that he's not really that edible. I had to to sew the torn parts.
And just this morning, after 3 days, the grass hairs started to sprout. I realized that his whole face will be covered with grass hairs as soon as all the seeds will sprout and grow. I think it will look odd though. I was expecting the grasses to grow only behind those eyes. I only realized later that the seeds covered the whole face so naturally the grasses will also grow all over the face. I'll have to cut and style them later as soon as all of them grow.
I'm also thinking of buying two (2) more and bring one to the office. :)
