A Most Delightful Place...

...that is Hongkong.

Excited. Amazed. Delighted. Scared. I was all those (and more) when the plane landed at the HKIA. Why not, that was my first time leaving the country. Armed with my mighty notebook (where i wrote our itinerary and everything i researched about HK), my suitcase and my handbag, and together with my high school besties, Meia and Klainey, we had one of the most exciting and memorable vacations, ever! :)

As we went to find the bus bay, we took pictures at every corner of the airport amidst the hustle bustle, like kids playing at a park.

It was a 45 minute drive to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) from the airport. For fear of getting lost, I consciously look at the destination screen (or something) flashing beside the bus driver every minute. That nerve wracking feeling when we couldn't find the Diosdado Macapagal Int'l. Airport (DMIA) in Clark (yes we started off bad, our first misadventure), like, we left Manila at 1:00 AM and arrived at the airport at  around 5:00 AM, and it's supposedly just a two hour drive! Triple that, that's how I felt being in a foreign land for the first time and without a tour guide!

We passed by some scenic views of Lantau Island, buildings under construction with bamboo scaffolding which I find it odd for a modern city like HK, until we reached TST, got off the correct street (thank God!) and right in front of the hostel where we stayed. Unlike Lantau Island where you can see more buildings than people, the Hongkong Island is a very busy place.

At the hostel lobby, we were greeted with a very nice and welcoming chinese lady, Mrs. Lee (I think), we were then directed to our room, quite small but nice and clean. Exhausted and sleepy, we decided to rest first before going around the city.

At 2:00 PM, feeling well rested, we decided to start our city tour, and so our adventure began! :)

We went to a lot of places during that 5-day trip: Harbour City, Avenue of Stars, Disneyland, Ocean Park, Madam Tussaud's and Macau. Each with different and exciting stories that I think I have to write for each of them separately. :))

Until then.
